Spring is in the air, and I couldn't be happier! It was a long, bitterly cold winter, and I've been desperate for warmer weather for months. Now my wishes have finally been answered - while there's still a nippy breeze from time to time and mornings and evenings are still cool, the sun is out and there's a beautiful warmth hanging in the air. The smell of flowers blooming tickles my nostrils when I go out, I wake up to the sound of birds chirping every morning, and I'm even considering taking up swimming again (despite my fear of water). There's just something wonderful about dipping into a pool on a hot, sunny day!
To celebrate the coming of spring, I've been reaching for long, flowing dresses; cool, breezy salwar kameezes; and anything in a floral print; and have shoved all of my sweaters and winter wear up into the far recesses of my closet. Delhi residents have convinced me that in a few weeks I'll be complaining about the unbearable heat, but till then I'm happy to soak up the sun!
Here I'm wearing a dress that Mum had tailored for herself, but for some reason she decided to pass it on (lucky me!) - I am head-over-heels for the soft color, asymmetrical shape, and sunflower print. Silly story - when I was young (8 or so), I had a sunflower-print shift dress, which I loved and used to wear often. Once, for a school project, I was asked to document the favorite colors of my parents. So I asked Mum what her favorite color was, and she said "red." I then went and asked my father, and he said he loved yellow, because I looked so pretty in the yellow sunflower dress! Naturally, sunflowers have held a special place in my heart since then.
Also, I know I'm really late to the party, but I'm finally on Pinterest! I was actually never interested in joining because I knew what a time-sucker it would be (and boy was I right) but I started getting traffic from being Pinned so I thought I'd give it a go. You can find me at Leia12, and see where I've been pinned here. (By the way, does anyone know how I can link the two, so on my profile it also shows where my own stuff has been pinned?)
Ciao! xo

This dress of your mother's is just beautiful on you. In the middle of the night last night, I heard the BBC report an earthquake in Delhi, my thoughts went immediately to you and I pray that all is well for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for thinking of me! Luckily, it was a very minor earthquake and I'm quite used to them. No damage was done, although a lot of the citizens are quite shaken up about it!
DeletePretty dress, it looks lovely on you!!
